Forces are a push or pull.
Forces make an object start, stop, or change direction.
FORCES make objects ACCELERATE !!!!!! (NOT just move!)
when all forces on an object cancel each other out, the object is in equilibrium and the net force is zero (0).
In this case, the object may, or may not be moving, BUT it will definitely NOT be accelerating!
In many cases, the net force is zero because friction will be equal to the force exerted on the object.
Sir Isaac Newton had three laws of motion.
1. an object at rest will remain at rest until a force is applied to it - AND
an object in motion will continue in motion until a force alters its motion.
2. the force applied to an object is proportional to the object's acceleration and also to its mass.
Mathematically, this is stated as: F = m * a or Force = mass * acceleration
